The desire to be one of the owners of the latest smartphone is waning as people are no longer seeing the necessity of spending most of their money to grab the latest gadget. Based on a study that was conducted in Britain, more than half of the 2,000 respondents find that they are bored with keeping up with the recent gadgets. As a matter of fact, a good number of mobile phone users are no longer interested in spending that much for a small gadget. Most are considering getting older models while some prefer to buy a refurbished phone instead.

A Growing Distaste for the Latest Tech
Every year there is always something better in the mobile phone industry that is designed to make you want to have one. These companies know how to tickle their user’s fancy when they are coming up with designs and new features for their phones. But it seems that even though the latest premium devices are better than their predecessors, their high price tags are putting a bad taste in their customers’ mouth. After all, with all the bills to pay and the ongoing crisis, not to mention not having the enthusiasm to replace an old but still functioning phone, there is no real desire to spend more than a thousand pounds for a phone that will deteriorate after years of use.
Aside from their exorbitant price tags, why are people considering getting a refurbished phone instead?
Customers no longer want to be told that they need to purchase the latest gadget that comes with a high price tag all the time.
More than half of the respondents of the study felt that mobile phone companies are forcing them to buy their new models since their previous ones have a shorter lifespan.
Many are fighting back with the impression that mobile phone companies are touting that they need to buy the latest tech to be cool or in with the times.
Around 72% of the respondents believe that the newly released smartphones tend to have plenty of bugs, hence they are willing to wait to buy them.
Some do not really see the difference with using an old model and a brand new one since they have the same use.
Many preferred to stick with smartphones that they are already familiar with because they are afraid of trying out modern technology.
A growing number of adults are becoming worried about the electronic wastes being caused by constantly evolving smartphone technology.
The cheap price tag of a refurbished phone is attractive especially to those who are on a tight budget.
Why Are There People Willing to Spend More on Their Mobile Phones?

A lot of people think that cell phones are a waste of money. But then there are those who just can’t help but want to get the latest premium mobile device each time it is released. What drives these individuals to purchase expensive phones then?
High end features that are not found in smaller, compact devices.
Bigger sized high definition screens.
More camera sensors mean more shooting capabilities.
Processors are faster than previous models which enhance user experience.
More internal storage capacity and bigger RAM.
It is also possible that mobile phone companies have already conditioned the minds of their customers that they need the new features of their devices because they will enhance their user experience. The flashy ads and jaw-dropping quality can definitely hook those who are seeking better smartphone use. This may also be the reason why there are those who are willing to part with more than a thousand pounds or dollars for the latest models.
Why Refurbished Phones are Better Alternatives?

For those who think that cell phones are a waste of money, perhaps you haven’t tried buying a refurbished phone just yet. There is a common misconception that refurbished phones are not the best in the lot, but you might be surprised that they do come with several advantages. Here are a few that you should think about.
Huge Savings. The biggest benefit of buying a refurbished phone is the savings that you can get. One reason behind this is that once the device is no longer sealed in its original casing, it will not be labeled as or considered as new. This is advantageous especially to those whose mobile phone was lost, stolen, or got broken at one point which left a hole in your savings.
Environment Friendly. Another reason why choosing a refurbished phone over new ones is because you are lessening electronic wastes. Just imagine the number of mobile devices being discarded in landfills because they are no longer new. The electronic waste that we produce is harmful to the environment which can also affect us in the long run.
Warranty Included. This might be something you are surprised to hear of but retailers of refurbished devices are also offering warranties as proof that their products have been professionally refurbished. If you are buying from a reputable seller, then you can get up to a year of warranty where you can have your device fixed or even replaced as long as you meet the requirements.
Various Options. Why buy a refurbished phone? The fact that there will be more options available is certainly one of the charms of choosing a refurbished as an alternative. You can even go back to models that were released five years ago and they will still work like they were fresh from their original casing. Since manufacturers tend to discontinue their older models, it is likely that you will find them in third-party sellers who sell them as refurbished smartphones.
Should I Spend Money on an iPhone?
This depends mostly on what your preferences are and whether you have the budget for it. We all know that Apple products aren’t exactly cheap, but this is because the high price of these premium models is based on the components and specs of the new device. And since these are made by the tech giant, you can expect that everything is of the highest quality. This is why, if you have the money to spare for a brand new Apple iPhone then there is no harm in getting one. On the other hand, there is a way to acquire one without the expensive price tag and that is by choosing a refurbished phone of this brand.
Will being refurbished affect its function? Of course not! As a matter of fact, you can get a refurbished phone that is in almost like-new condition if you know where to look. If you are interested in getting any iPhone to use as your primary or secondary device, then why spend thousands when you can choose refurbished? For sure, these will have the same functions as the newer models minus the hefty price tag.
Cell Phones Are a Waste of Money - But Are They?
Most of us use our smartphones for a variety of tasks, and we have to admit to ourselves that they do make life convenient for us. After all, not only do they help us get in touch with loved ones across the globe, but they enhance communication too both personally and at work. These pocket-sized gadgets are fully capable of handling a variety of tasks from sending emails, browsing the web, taking photos, and even entertaining us when needed without having to use multiple devices. So, it cannot be said that cell phones are a waste of money.
However, it does become a waste when we spend more than we can afford but only use a handful of its features or that we don’t really utilize their features. This is why 90% of adults these days are seeing the practicality of buying a refurbished phone from here instead of a new one because they are cost-efficient and they can still do multiple tasks just like any other model. Refurbished phones, when processed correctly, can still work like they are new since the malfunctioning components would have been already replaced and tested before they are sold. This means that you will get your money’s worth from it provided that you buy from a retailer that is reputable and trusted in the market.
Conclusion
Buying brand-new phones these days are no longer exciting for many since most of their functionality can be found in older models. Many are already getting tired of having to purchase a new one, with its high price, when they don’t really need to use all the features included. This means that we are seeing a reduction in sales of newly released smartphones since customers are becoming wary of their spending in terms of gadgets.
You too should weigh the pros and cons of your purchases especially when it comes to pricey gadgets when you can get the same functions and looks without spending much. A refurbished phone, when refurbished correctly, will look and work as if it is brand-new but not without a hefty price tag.
